Eclectic Metalsmith Bookends
Eclectic Metalsmith bookends start as a flat sheet of 18 gauge pure copper. A design is applied and the copper is then placed in an acid bath that etches away the areas that are not covered by the design. The bookend is then cleaned and a patina applied. The top surface of the bookend is then cleaned, leaving the patina in the etched areas. This process highlights the design giving it depth and contrast.
The bookend is then coated with a finish that prevents the copper from developing its normal patina. It is then backed with durable wool-blend (not craft) felt to protect both books and surfaces.
These bookends are handsome for both home and office. They come in three sizes. The 5x7 inch size is well proportioned for most hard cover books. At 4x6 inches, the smaller bookends are perfect for paperback books. A 6x8 inch size is available for larger coffee table size books.
